Mailing Address vs. Home Address on Resume?

Question:

I am currently applying for jobs in California as I am moving there in the Winter. However I've not yet moved. On the resume, should I include this information in the Cover Letter or should I just put my new address as the contact info?

Answer
:

When writing your resume, put the relocation address in the cover letter. By doing so, employers will know you will be available for interviews. In addition, they will know that they do not need to worry about relocation expenses if they choose to hire you. While companies sometimes pay for this expense, it may exclude you from some positions where the company is unwilling to cover the cost of your relocation.
